Our Vision: Develop a robust program that teaches life skills, job skills, creates stability to gain momentum, provides connection to services and ultimately links participants to a steady job.
Better Way Anaheim, an innovative program offering voluntary community service projects for those who are homeless will provide basic work experience as well as access to additional services to help end homelessness.
JMh Anaheim is working with City Net, one of Anaheim's partners for homeless outreach, and others that are part of the Anaheim Homeless Collaborative (a collection of more than 100 organizations working to address homelessness. The groups help identify potential candidates who would benefit from community service as a way of developing basic work experience. Love Anaheim conduct weekly community service outings of up to five hours each up to two days a week.
Participants work to clean up parks, paint trash cans or fire hydrants and work on other community projects. Those taking part in Better Way Anaheim 1.0 work as volunteers and are provided food and gift cards with a value of $60 for each day of service. They have access to services provided by the Anaheim Homeless Collaborative with referrals to housing, healthcare, social services benefits, employment and other services designed to end homelessness. Participants come from the streets and from locations including the Anaheim Emergency Shelter and Bridges at Kraemer Place.
Testimonials: Two of our participants now work regularly as part of our Better Way Team. "R" says, "I now work side by side with homeless participants with the goal of teaching them that the only way to stay off of the streets is to WORK."
In 2025, we:
Served 100+ Homeless individuals (unduplicated) through our BWA Program “Pathway to Work” Program.
